In the business world, businesses must apply significant efforts to survive competition. Every global expansion plans of a business aim at achieving its financial goals over a specific period of time. Entrepreneurs must work hard to ensure that every factor in their business expansion complies with the host country’s legal requirements. Vietnam is one of the countries that promote business environment with minimum established legal guidelines. When planning business expansion in Vietnam, one should consider such concepts as common and civil law systems, intellectual property and related aspects, the violation of employees’ rights and child labor issues, public perception of companies that work with businesses engaging in activities that violate those rights, and the impact of the EU on business environment.

Common and Civil Law System

The system of common and civil law serves the sole purpose of increasing business competition globally. In addition, the system ensures that larger companies control a larger market share as compared to their smaller counterparts internationally. Business expansion within home country and internationally is associated with its own level of integration and risks (Nommick, 2018). Both small- and large-scale businesses incur costs, resulting from criminal and capital offences as the result of non-conformity with these laws. In order to ensure a successful business expansion, every entrepreneur must not overlook the impact of these laws on the business future since expanding a smaller business into a much larger one might entail more risks as smaller companies are more susceptible to unexpected effects as opposed to larger ones.

Intellectual Property Laws

The most important factor behind the success of every business expansion is the invention capability of entrepreneurs. Other factors, such as the protection of Intellectual Property laws beyond country borders and other regulatory restrictions on foreign investments, are key to every business expansion as well (Nommick, 2018). In Vietnam, at least 10 Intellectual Property laws have been enacted recently. The certification of the inventor, as one of the most important laws in this sphere, ensures that any entrepreneur in Vietnam can introduce an invention that would be is useful in business expansion. Not only does this law protect invention rights aimed at business expansion, but it also covers such rights in initial business startup.

Copyright Infringement Laws and Legal Ramifications

Apart from the key factors involved in any business expansion plan, the main objective of expanding companies is the creation of new jobs and work platforms where new ideas can be implemented. Business copyright contributes greatly to international business competition. Businesses that offer similar services or products exist in many countries, thus ensuring a steady competition in the economic sector. Copyright infringement laws and legal ramifications serve to protect intellectual property despite imposing economic impacts on society. Any unauthorized use a copyrighted business idea or plan is leads to legal consequences internationally (Nommick, 2018). However, business copyright has little effect on any business expansion plan as long as any entrepreneur has legal documents to operate such a business. In Vietnam, similar businesses are only allowed to operate according to copyright infringement laws. Therefore, any entrepreneur whose business operations do not adhere to these laws is usually at risk of facing legal ramification.

Violation of Human Rights of Employees

Every government has enacted laws that ensure protection of the rights of employees not only in the business sector but also in other sectors. Vietnam is certainly a typical example of a Third World country that aims to use opportunities in the global trading sector (Francavilla, 2018). In any business, employees can best be described as its most valuable asset. Every business expansion plan has its own necessities, with the most important of them is increasing the number of employees. The Human Rights Commission in Vietnam ensures that the human rights of employees of any business operating in this country are protected properly. As a result, Vietnam achieves economic growth as every employee yields considerable profits to their business since their rights are protected.

Child Labor Law Violations

The Human Rights Commission in Vietnam has enacted strict laws that ban any entrepreneur from violating both employees’ and children’s rights. In the past, the Members of the European Parliament criticized Vietnam for the violation of employees’ rights such as restriction to freedom of speech and expression (Francavilla, 2018). As mentioned, the labor force behind any business expansion must be regarded as the highest priority when achieving business goals. At the same time, the United Nations has also stipulated laws governing the rights of children, thereby ensuring the right of protecting any child from being used as labor force. Many entrepreneurs have the desire to use the labor of children to accomplish their goals of business expansion. Every country must guarantee legal consequences to those businesses that use child labor in their operations.

Public Perception of Companies Doing Business with Those Engaged in the Violation of Child Labor Laws and Employee Rights

The type of business that any entrepreneur runs has a strong correlation to the profits realized. The public involvement in day-to-day activities of any business activity plays a vital role in ensuring the prosperity of this business. Any entrepreneur, whose main aim is a successful business expansion not only in their home country but also internationally, must acknowledge this role of the public since often, people refuse to use services and accept employment in business activities that violate someone’s rights. Consequently, every entrepreneur must seriously consider how they will treat their employees in a manner that conforms to their rights. Entrepreneurs must never engage in business activities that suggest the use of child labor. In return, one will be rewarded abundantly with a successful international business expansion as the result of full public participation in one’s business activity.

Impact of the European Union on Business Activities

The European Union plays the role of creating a conducive working and business environment to member nations, thus affecting every business activity in Europe quite significantly. The law governing the member states of the EU demands that any sale contract faces a close monitoring by the laws of the business entrepreneur or seller (Nommick, 2018). The European Union has jurisdiction roles on the importation and exportation of goods within the Union. At the same time, in Vietnam, the European Union has prioritized the provision of support to the governmental initiatives, established to reduce the rate of poverty (European Commission, 2015). The most vital involvement of the European Union in the business sector of Vietnam is that of foreign investments. To expand their business, an entrepreneur must not overlook the desire to import goods that will be sold in home country. The exporter must also acknowledge the involvement of the European Union in their entrepreneurship goals.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the above discussed concepts and ideas are just a part of the great variety of aspects that can be considered important in business expansion. Nevertheless, when planning to expand business operations, especially globally, entrepreneurs must be aware of the legal systems of the host country. The knowledge of copyright and Intellectual Property laws helps avoid issues with their infringement, which could have its legal ramifications. Any business that aims to expand must ensure the protection of workers’ rights and fully adhere to child labor laws to avoid violations. Finally, the impact of the European Union on business environment should not be overestimated.
