We all love movies. It doesn't matter if they are old, new or of a certain type. Why? Movies are fun and tell a great story. There have been many movies about cars, but which is the best? We will evaluate car movies on the basis of the cars, car scenes and racing.

10. Hot Rod Girl (1956). I'm not sure if this was intended to be a hot rodding film or not. The plot is pretty simple. A guy's brother dies. The city wants to ban hot-rodding. And the kids want to race. There has to be chicken games in 1956 (it was law in 1950's Hollywood). There are several 32 Fords in the movie (actually, there is a lot), a 1956 Chevy, a 1956 Ford, a 55 T-bird and an Olds.

9. Death Proof (2007) - At first, this movie may seem boring. It's mostly talking, and there are only 3 girls drinking at a bar. The movie is supposed to look like a 1970's Slasher film crossed with Vanishing Point. Check it out if you are a Mopar fan!

8. Road Racers (1994). This movie has only one race and two car chases. The movie begins with a car chase between a 1956 Chevy and a 1956 Buick, all set to a rockabilly song. There's greaser violence, but it's not Grease. It is more like Outsiders.

7. Thunder Road (1958). Let me tell you the story. I can tell you all. Actually, let Robert Mitchum do it. Mitchum stars in this movie about running moonshine through Tennessee in the 1950's, and avoiding being caught by the revenuers. The movie has many crazy car chases, including a 50 Ford Coupe and 57 Ford Fairlane. It also features a 1956 Chevy undercover vehicle that can rip cars' bumpers off. Mitchum even sings a song for the film!

6. Dazed & Confused (1993). I've felt this way for so long it isn't true. This song unfortunately isn't in the movie 123movies. It was supposed to be, and Jimmy Paige sang it. Plant didn't. This film is like the 70s version of American Graffiti, except that it is the first night of the summer and not the last. The main character is also entering high school. There is a car race between a 72 Chevy Truck and a 64 Buick, a 70 Chevelle SS 454 and a 70 GTO Judge. Also, there are a 37 Oldsmobile, a 74 Trans Am, a Ford Maverick and a 70 GTO judge.

5. Tales of the Crypt : King of the Road ( 1992) - Okay, I lied. This isn't a film. It is an episode of HBOs horror show Tales of the Crypt. Why is this film on the list? Why is this movie not on the list? The episode begins with a 69 Yellow Chevelle SS racing a 69 Red Dodge Charger, to a rocking Warren Zevon song. We also get to see a chase between the Chevelle and a police vehicle, and then at the end we have a street race where the Chevelle and a 57 Chevy gasser. The soundtrack is great, but only "Roll with the Punches", one of the songs, has been released. "Bad Road, Wretched Road", is only available as a cover version by the band Rebel Son.

4. Hot Rod (1979). This is a hard movie to find. It was made for television in 1979. This movie has more Drag Racing scenes than any other I've seen. This movie starts with a street race between a 65 Hemi Plymouth, a 69 Cutlass, and later, a 41 Willys Coupe Gasser powered by a Hemi, followed by a few Funny Cars, a rocket-powered Funny Car, and tons of Drag Racing!

3. Vanishing Point (2001) - Kowalski, a delivery driver, is transporting a white 1970 Dodge Challenger to San Francisco from Colorado. He speeds the entire time, creating the largest car chase in history! The police are following you the entire time!

2. Two-Lane Blacktop (1971) - Who Needs Plots? This movie does not! We only need a driver, a mechanic, a girl, a guy driving a GTO and a 55 Chevy Gasser, plus a few random passengers to make a good car movie. This film is about cars only! In almost every scene, you can see and hear the 55 Chevy as well as GTO. The film opens with a Drag Race, and ends with another!

1. American Graffiti (1973). Was this a real surprise for anyone? There are only classic cars, cruising and great music. A few races, lots of humor, and a lot of fun. A nice but pissy yellow 32 Ford powered with a 327 is shown, as well as a 58 Chevy Bel Air powered by the same 327. We also see a girl driving a 1956 T-bird, and a black 55 Chevy (which is actually the one in Two Lane Blacktop). This film is really about cars and not growing up. The film ends with an epic showdown between the Ford 32 and Chevy 55!
